- 🇪🇺 🇺🇸 Council Decision of 17 May 2004 on the conclusion of an Agreement between the European Community and the United States of America on the processing and transfer of PNR data by Air Carriers to the United States (US) Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.
- 🇪🇺 The European Parliament launches proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) against the Council and the European Commission for having adopted a legal framework authorising the transfer of air passenger data to the US.
- The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) is appointed.
